Q: Aren’t your lessons a bit silly?
A:
The answer is yes! The philosophy I have had for 25 years and is the philosophy of the team at Creative Classroom is that students will learn effectively if they have a unique method for storing information. This will assist them to excel in exams.
We believe that the issue is being able to recall this information.
These stories and structures using mnemonics and visualization have produced outstanding results in the past. One student who came 1st in the State in Economics in 1991 stated in Year 11 that he found the stories a little bit difficult to start with but after a while it was the key to his success.
It is interesting to note that he went on to do Medicine and he told me that for anatomy and physiology he used a similar structure approach for his studies. Enjoyment is the key for remembering information. Therefore, the silly stories and structures will assist you. For most students this style of teaching gels almost immediately. For others it takes two to three lessons to be part of the Creative Classroom style of learning.
