There are three courses on offer

  1. Course 1 is designed for Primary school students (ages 8-11);
  2. Course 2 is designed for Middle school students (ages 12-15)
  3. Course 3 is designed for students in their final years of high school (Years 11 and year 12) at school (ages 16-18)
  4. Parents -  join any class to give so you can help your child

These courses are designed for students, teachers and parents.

Course 1 - For students, teachers and parents of students in Years 11-12 

These enjoyable workshops will motivate you and build your confidence to study effectively and successfully undertake exams

The following areas will be covered in this course

  1. Constructing summarises - students often don’t have the experience to construct useful notes; resulting in lengthy unproductive summaries
  2. The course will explore how you can produce summaries that are usable exam inputs
  3. The skills you need to study effectively
  4. The skills to use class time effectively
  5. How to develop useful memory aids and mindmaps
  6. The techniques for exam success. Students need much more than knowledge of the subject to perform well in exams. This course explores how best to respond to the different style of exam questions -
    • - Multiple choice question
    • - Short answer responses
    • - Extended responses
  7. The techniques for writing essay/extended response. Students underperform in constructing well-balanced essays. To give you the confidence to answer extended response questions the following areas will be explored 
    • - The ‘directive/action verbs’ and how they change the focus of your answer
    • - How to allocate time between the sections in the exam
    • - How to format your responses
    • - How to prepare plans for extended response at home
    • - How to prepare plans for extended response under exam conditions
    • - How to write introductions and conclusions
    • - How to make your written response sophisticated
    • - How you can effectively construct logical arguments in your essays
